Summer Middle School Fashion Intensive
Are you a young aspiring fashion designer? Do you want to learn how to design & construct a garment? Interested in learning about the fashion industry & the opportunities here in Kansas City?
Then you should apply for our week-long youth summer course for middle school students wanting to learn basic sewing skills and how to design, cut, & sew your own one of a kind outfit! In this intensive experience, you will learn the foundational skills necessary to work on a sewing machine, read patterns, and so much more. We will end the program with a fashion show showing off your new design!

Students will:
work on Janome HD-3000 and School Mate 7330 straight-stitch home sewing machines and Janome and Babylock home serger;
Learn how to operate a sewing machine, use a pattern, and sew garments;
Sew one garment that is emblematic of their fashion brand and showcase it via a fashion show for family;
Use creative and problem-solving skills to expand their imagination; and
Learn about different aspects of the fashion industry.
All sewing tools will be provided by Rightfully Sewn Academy and it's donors in order to promote and encourage a sustainable future in the fashion industry. Fabric & a pattern will need to be purchased for the class.
Middle School Intensive:
Monday, June 10 to Friday, June 14 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
