Summer High School Fashion Intensive

Are you a young aspiring fashion designer? Do you want to learn how to design & construct a garment? Interested in learning about the fashion industry & the opportunities here in Kansas City?

Then you should apply for our week-long summer course for high school students wanting to improve their sewing skills and learn about the variety of career options in fashion! In this intensive experience, you will learn the foundational skills necessary to design, cut, & construct a garment. We will also show you a path to finding a career in the fashion industry by featuring special guests from the Kansas City’s fashion community. We will end the program with a fashion show showing off your new design!

Only 5 places for each Intensive!

Students will:

  • work on Janome HD-3000 and School Mate 7330 straight-stitch home sewing machines and Janome and Babylock home serger;

  • Sew one garment that is emblematic of their fashion brand and showcase it via a fashion show for family;

  • Use creative and problem-solving skills to expand their imagination; and

  • Hear from industry professionals about how to prepare for careers in fashion.

All sewing tools will be provided by Rightfully Sewn Academy and it's donors in order to promote and encourage a sustainable future in the fashion industry. Fabric & a pattern will need to be purchased for the class.

High School Intensive:

This is an intermediate course that requires basic knowledge of sewing machines & how to use them.

Monday, June 24th to Friday, June 28th from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Ages 14 to 17
