Hand sewing can be done anywhere! Whether you’re wanting a portable sewing method, to sew something small, mend a garment, refine your garment finishes, or take a historical sewing approach — this is the class to get you started!

Join us for a hands-on introductory course that will teach you the basic and most vital stitches done by hand. Use the stitches you’re taught to sew a pincushion to take home with you! This class is perfect for all levels, from those new to a needle and thread, to those looking to increase their sewing skillset!

Only 6 places!

Students will work with needles and thread to sew a cute mushroom pincushion by hand!

Students will:

  • Learn basics of hand sewing, including vocabulary, how to thread a needle and how to start and end a stitch;

  • Learn the most common and important hand stitches, as well as their names and when to use them;

  • Learn basic techniques to create sewn products, including how to pin and cut fabric and order of operations for construction; and

  • Utilize the skills taught to sew a pincushion by hand.

All sewing materials will be provided by Rightfully Sewn Academy and its donors in order to promote and encourage a sustainable future in the fashion industry. A supplies list will be provided for students to bring their own supplies to class, if desired.

Class is taught by Academy Instructor, Lacey Daniels.
