Do you want an entry-level lesson on sewing and garment construction? Do you have a sewing machine but are uncertain how to use it?
Join us for a hands-on introductory course that will teach you the foundational skills needed to construct simple apparel items. This class is perfect for the aspiring sewist who is curious to try sewing or the self-taught sewist who would like to increase their knowledge and technical skill set.

Students will:
Cut and sew a pajama top
Learn how to make thin spagetti straps;
work on Janome HD-3000 and School Mate 7330 straight-stitch home sewing machines and Janome and Babylock home sergers.
Learn sewing vocabulary, including sewing machine parts and apparel construction terminology;
Learn how to thread and operate a conventional sewing machine, including trouble-shooting common issues;
Receive instruction on how to read sewing pattern pieces
Learn basic techniques to create sewn products, including how to pin and cut fabric and order of operations for construction; and
Receive a complimentary Rightfully Sewn sewing pattern for a pajama top to continue sewing at home.
All fabric & sewing tools will be provided by Rightfully Sewn Academy and it's donors in order to promote and encourage a sustainable future in the fashion industry.
