SWIMWEAR DESIGN PRINCIPLES-FASHION FIGURES CON'T

  • Rightfully Sewn (Interim Location) 7501 Prospect Avenue Kansas City, MO, 64132 United States (map)

This is a great companion class for our SEWING SWIMWEAR PACKAGE (coming soon!) with Camille Alexandria, where you will receive instruction and the next step in creating your swimsuit.

Skill level: Beginner or Intermediate

Prerequisite skills: None, but this is a companion class to an intermediate class package. Intermediate classes require you to either take one of our beginner sewing classes or you need to have previous sewing experience, due to the advance nature of the class.

In SWIMWEAR DESIGN PRINCIPLES, you will learn about the history of swimwear, as well as the importance of selecting the right fabric for your design. You will also learn about swimwear shapes, silhouettes, and various construction techniques used in the fashion industry today. Students will be asked to design and draw their own suit on a fashion figure and participate in a group design critique. By the end of the lesson, students will have a working swimwear design sketch that is ready to produce!

Only 6 places!

Students will:

·         Learn history behind swimwear

·         Learn about swimwear fabrics and their uses/behavior

·         Learn about swimwear shapes/silhouettes

·         Create their own swimwear design(s), and draw it on a fashion figure

·         Participate in instructor-led group critique

·         Take home the best version of your swimwear design, ready for production!

Please bring any fashion magazines you want for inspiration, some will be available if you don’t have any. Drawing materials will be provided by Rightfully Sewn Academy and its donors in order to promote and encourage a sustainable future in the fashion industry. See below supplies list that will be provided for each student. Feel free to bring your own supplies to class, if desired.

First time students will be provided with:

  • a pouch of pencils

  • paper

  • plastic sheets for protecting their designs
